Salary: $5,000 - $6,000 per 5-credit class

Reports To: Dean of Social Sciences & Humanities

This position is for a Music Adjunct Faculty member to teach OC’s Music History, Theory, Fundamentals, and Appreciation classes. The candidate should be able to teach both in person and remotely, depending on circumstances. Applications are considered when submitted through the OC employment portal.

The role involves teaching courses in accordance with the college catalog, schedule, discipline guidelines, and course outlines. Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, grading, maintaining student records, providing class syllabi, and submitting required documents to the division office. Essential Functions

  1. Teach assigned Music courses following the schedule and discipline guidelines.
  2. Prepare instructional materials and grade student work.
  3. Submit records and documents as scheduled.
  4. Willingness to teach face-to-face at Bremerton, Shelton, and Poulsbo campuses, as well as remotely.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music or Music Education.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in Music, including to adults.

College teaching experience is preferred.

  • Graduate-level knowledge of Music, including History, Appreciation, and Theory.
  • Ability to teach a diverse student population across various educational levels.

Terms of Employment

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. No visa sponsorship is available. Official transcripts are required within 30 days of employment. This is a quarterly contracted adjunct position, with pay based on a range per quarter. Flexibility for evening, weekend, satellite campus, and off-campus instruction is required. Positions are reviewed quarterly; applying does not guarantee employment. Benefits are limited initially but may include retirement plans, sick leave, tuition waivers, and other perks after eligibility is met.
