About the Role

As an Operational Marketer / Writer on our Command team, you'll be instrumental in documenting and refining the messaging, processes, and playbooks that form the foundation of our automation strategy. You'll create the essential content assets that power our AI systems and keep our knowledge base current and effective.

This role serves as the critical bridge between our technical implementations and their communication both internally and externally. You'll document successes, maintain our message architecture, build prompt libraries, and share our learnings with the world through Automata, our technical blog.

What You'll Do

You'll develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for our automation playbooks, ensuring they remain accessible, current, and valuable. Working closely with our technical teams, you'll translate complex concepts into clear, actionable writing that serves as the foundation for our AI implementations.

A significant part of your role involves crafting effective prompt strategies and libraries that enable our AI systems to perform at their best. You'll document processes meticulously, capturing the subtle nuances that make our approach successful and ensuring this knowledge transfers effectively across our organization.

When forward deployed to portfolio companies, you'll help establish their message architecture and content strategy, ensuring alignment with automation initiatives. Throughout all your work, you'll maintain a consistent voice that reflects Higher Order Capital's vision of technology as a tool for human empowerment.

What We're Looking For

We seek a writer with exceptional clarity of thought who can distill complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging content. You should have a passion for technology and its practical applications in business, with a particular interest in how AI and automation are transforming operations.

Your writing should demonstrate versatility across different formats—from technical documentation to compelling blog posts—while maintaining consistent quality and voice. You should be naturally curious about how things work and able to ask insightful questions that uncover the information needed to create comprehensive documentation.

Requirements

Exceptional writing skills with samples demonstrating clarity, engagement, and versatility
Experience creating technical documentation, process guides, or playbooks
Demonstrated facility with AI tools, particularly in content creation and refinement
Understanding of prompt engineering principles and experience building prompt libraries
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field
Portfolio of published work, preferably including technology-focused content
Strong interviewing skills for extracting key information from technical experts
Experience with content management systems and documentation tools

Ideal Background

Journalism backgrounds are particularly valuable, especially for those who have covered technology or business. Editorial experience at technology publications, content strategy roles at technology companies, or technical writing positions would all provide relevant experience.
