About The Team And The Role

We have a newly created position for someone to play a pivotal role in driving eBay’s position in our sneakers business. With a passion for sustainability and a background in Sneakers/Fashion or Fashion Accessories business development, this is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference in how customers shop!

This role will help shape the Fashion Sneakers category strategy and execute this by acquiring strategically important sellers, brands, and retailers to ensure eBay has the inventory to continue growing in this area.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for building, leading, and delivering the end-to-end acquisition pipeline to optimize the selection of brands and inventory on the eBay platform for customers.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Identify targets and develop a network of contacts for both short and long-term acquisition of new-to-eBay businesses. Manage a significant sales pipeline, providing a steady stream of new inventory from brands & sellers, and leveraging promotional cycles to meet critical metrics.
  • Collaborate with onboarded brands and sellers to ensure they are prepared to trade effectively, maximizing their trading capabilities on the platform. Build and expand partnerships with marketplace agencies and service providers to further enhance seller and inventory acquisition.
  • Continuously innovate and develop operational models to keep pace with the evolving ecommerce market, while enhancing team execution and operational capabilities. Lead procedural changes and drive business performance improvements.

What Will You Bring

  • eCommerce & Marketplaces knowledge: Proven experience and understanding of marketplace platforms, competitors, and supporting services (listing management, logistics, customer service), with a focus on fashion.
  • Business & Commercial Expertise: Experience in developing new business within large organizations, leading e-commerce commercial teams, and successfully delivering strategies under challenging circumstances.
  • Relationship Management: Ability to build and sustain relationships across functions and levels internally, and influence external partners to foster mutually beneficial growth, with a deep understanding of brand, seller, and partner needs.
  • Strategic & Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes, and use insights to drive innovation and decision-making.

The base pay range for this position varies by location, with specific ranges provided for the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro, Seattle Metro, and other U.S. locations. The total compensation package may include bonuses, stock units, and benefits such as medical, financial, and paid time off. Details will be provided upon offer.
