Job Summary

The Creative Arts Therapist is a direct service position responsible for providing creative arts therapy within the YWCA Eastern Union County PALS Program. The focus areas include individual and group therapy in dance/movement, drama, and art, along with intake and assessment, parent education, and documentation. All shelter staff will be trained to answer the hotline and cover backup shifts.

Position Details

  • Status: Part Time
  • Rate: $35/hour

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's degree in creative arts therapy or equivalent
  • Board Certified (ATR-BC) or eligible
  • Prior counseling or clinical experience
  • Experience with children, domestic violence, or trauma survivors preferred
  • Bilingual/bicultural skills are a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities

Intake & Assessment

  • Conduct intake assessments and psychological tests for children in the program
  • Create individualized treatment plans
  • Collaborate with PALS staff to meet each child's needs

Creative Arts Therapy

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions
  • Incorporate safety planning and respectful behavior education into sessions

Parent Education

  • Educate parents about domestic violence dynamics and non-violent parenting strategies
  • Promote family bonding through creative arts sessions

Training & Supervision

  • Attend staff and supervisory meetings
  • Participate in required trainings

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate client records and reports
  • Submit reports timely and professionally

Additional Duties

  • Attend meetings, trainings, and community events
  • Coordinate with other YWCA programs
  • Represent the agency externally and internally as needed
  • Provide transportation if necessary
  • Answer hotline and cover shelter shifts as trained
