Job Summary:
- Maintain social media profiles across various platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn) including short form marketing copywriting, posting, reporting, and responding to inquiries.
- Create a content strategy for social media at Saint Peter’s University inclusive of content sharing and development across platforms and how to partner with other departments/offices for holistic, integrated posting with one consistent message.
- Develop & maintain monthly content calendars including strategic developed and organic social posts and synchronization across all digital channels.
- Schedule and publish organic posts on all relevant platforms.
- Attend and provide live coverage of some university events for social media platforms, while also being cognizant of how the content could be repurposed for other communication channels, including, but not limited to the university website, marketing collateral, and internal newsletters.
- Record and edit high-quality videos, including cutting, sequencing, adding text/transitions, etc.
- Create compelling and visually appealing content tailored to our target audience that aligns with the University's branding and messaging and current marketing campaign.
- Must understand how to translate university branding for social media audience.
- Community Engagement: Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, engage with followers to foster community growth and ask permission for reposts outside of the University community.
- Grow and manage the University’s online social presence to increase University brand presence.
- Track social media performance using analytics tools, prepare monthly reports on key metrics and suggest improvements based on data insights, update social media tracker and other reports.
- Actively participate in brainstorming sessions with the Office of Marketing & Communications team, agency partners, and other key stakeholders to find unique ways to promote content particularly paid and boosted posts across social media channels.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions with other members of the Office of Marketing & Communications for the strategic pre-planning of paid media ads.
- Act as subject matter expert in social media for the University, advising various internal departments on setup, trends, and best practices.
- Partner with internal University departments for collaboration posts and re-shares to showcase events.
- Assist with planning, set up, and execution of company events. Domestic travel may be required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field preferred.
- 2-4 years experience in social media; agency, higher education, or brand experience preferred.
- Experience in social media management, community engagement/management, and creating engaging content for all social channels.
- Experience maintaining and growing social audiences across multiple platforms.
- An eye for visual design and ability to capture and curate best-in-class social content while ensuring brand guidelines are followed.
- Well-versed in current and emerging social platforms and trends.
- Strong marketing writing and editorial skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
- Experience with social media managing tools like Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Linktree and Meta Business Manager and recommending the best options for day to day management.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud apps—including Illustrator, Photoshop, or Express—and video editing tools as it relates to social media content creation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and Google Suite.
- May require some posting on weekends as needed.
