General Description Of Work
Whatcom Community College welcomes applications for an Applied Music instructor in Clarinet for fall quarter 2025. Students will be assigned as needed on a quarterly basis. The successful candidate will:
- Maintain an active performing career.
- Have experience teaching applied clarinet at the college level.
- Use student-centered, inclusive pedagogy and teaching methods.
- Engage in collaborative communication practices and activities with students and colleagues.
- Prepare and implement learning materials for MUSC 150 and MUSC 250 Applied Music.
- Communicate with Discipline Lead and colleagues in preparation for quarterly student performances.
- Read and respond to emails from students, faculty and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in music with experience teaching collegiate-level clarinet.
- Evidence of an active performing career.
- Masters degree in music with at least three years of experience teaching collegiate-level clarinet.
- Experience navigating Canvas Learning Management System.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in student-centered instruction.
- Demonstrated history of collaboration with colleagues.
Salary
- $770 per student for fall quarter.
- Accrues a percentage of 7 hours (equal to the percentage of workload) per month of sick leave (ex. 50% quarterly employment contract x 7 hrs for full-time = 3.5 hrs per month for that quarter).
- Fall Quarter 2025.
