Summary WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU The National Hockey League is seeking a highly skilled and experienced data professional to lead the League’s social media analytical efforts. Social media metrics are a key driver to better understand the interests of hockey fans. The Manager will focus on social listening, as well as the measurement and analysis of both owned and non-owned accounts. The Manager will play a key role in shaping the NHL’s social media strategy through quantitative analysis, qualitative observations, and awareness of industry trends and best practices. To succeed in this role, the Manager must be able to operate effectively across business units, work in a collaborative manner, have excellent communication skills and be driven by curiosity. This role will report into the Chief Marketing Officer’s business unit and will collaborate with the VP, Social Media; Senior Director, Digital & Social Analytics; Senior Manager, Digital Analytics and others to ensure high output quality and to prioritize various business needs. Responsibilities Lead NHL’s analysis around all social media metrics Develop automated dashboards and deliverables for several different audiences including C-level, NHL social media team, and NHL Clubs Demonstrate data-driven storytelling skills – create and deliver compelling presentations with outstanding visuals to high level stakeholders Translate technical aspects of analysis and metrics into actionable insights Maintain a deep knowledge of new and emerging platforms across the social media space Understand social media usage trends, behavior, new platforms, methodology updates, metrics definitions, and the shifting metrics of existing platforms Qualifications Knowledge Areas/Experience Required 5+ years of social media analytics, reporting and storytelling experience Advanced level of expertise with social media analytics vendors (MVPIndex, TalkWalker, Zoomph, Emplify, Pendulum, Hootsuite, Videocites, etc.) Strong proficiency using data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Qlik, etc.) Experience and comfort working independently and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Preferred Familiarity with CMS tools is a plus Familiarity with Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics is a plus Experience negotiating contracts with vendors is a plus Required Skills Ability to prioritize, project-manage, problem solve, and drive progress forward under pressured timelines Comfort with working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with non-technical stakeholders Ability to handle large data sets and provide strategic analysis Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail CORE COMPETENCIES These core competencies reflect the underlying values that are necessary to represent the National Hockey League: Accountability Communication Critical Thinking Inclusion Professionalism Benefits The NHL offers U.S. regular, full-time employees: Time to Recharge: Utilize our generous Paid Time Off (PTO) to focus on your well-being and ensure a healthy work/life balance.
