The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University
of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center is expanding and seeks an
outstanding corneal surgeon to join our rapidly growing group.
Applicants must have completed an accredited cornea and external
disease fellowship. Refractive surgery experience is welcome but not essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice
at the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existing
faculty for call and medical student and resident education. Candidates are
expected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and research
in an academic setting. As part of the
UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides a rewarding mix of tertiary and
indigent care.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials.

The Sandia Mountain wilderness is 20 minutes from UNM. There is a lively arts

two national laboratories nearby: Sandia and Los Alamos.
Minimum Qualifications for position:
- Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency Program
- Completion of AUPO-Certified Fellowship Program
in Cornea - Board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology
- Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications for position:
- Experience in clinical education
- Experience in clinical research
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity,
equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly
diverse communities - Experience in Cornea and
External Diseases and Corneal Surgery - Experience in Complex
cataract and anterior segment surgery - Experience in complex
ocular surface surgery
