Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st shift; Saturdays as needed
United Construction & Forestry is seeking a Service Writer responsible for assisting the Service Department with customer service needs, managing work orders, supporting pre-delivery of new equipment, handling repair and reconditioning of trade-in equipment, and overseeing daily shop and field service operations.
What You’ll Do
- Advise customers on technical issues, schedule service, plan jobs, and specify instructions based on customer and machine details
- Assist in appraising and quoting repair work, coordinating with the Service Manager on parts and labor requirements
- Schedule shop tasks, field service work, and vehicle pickups/deliveries
- Process warranty claims
- Establish and adjust work procedures to meet deadlines
- Open and close work orders efficiently to meet company goals
- Supervise shop activities in the absence of the Service Manager
- Participate in company-sponsored training to enhance skills and knowledge
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with colleagues, management, and customers
Requirements
What it Takes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet applications
- Positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong organizational skills
- Customer service orientation
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Preferred
- 1 year of experience in Service Department operations
- Experience with John Deere equipment
Education
- High school diploma or GED
Physical Requirements
