We are presently searching for an Intermediate Designer for our Boston studio. The Intermediate Designer, working under general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Works with team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/or adaptive projects
Works with team to develop design ideas and create both presentation and construction drawings
Drafts technical drawings
Provides review of engineering and landscape drawings to ensure they comply with design solution
With Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
Ensures integration into overall design
Preliminary concept plans for larger projects
May develop and finalize conceptual design for smaller projects
Oversees Intermediate Designer to review space plans and tackle more complicated issues
Provides detail for interior and architectural design projects
Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages for both interior and exterior
Assists in developing packages for larger projects
Obtains cost estimates and produces final cost estimates
May be required to assist with support for field surveys
Oversee tasks and provide feedback on work product
Qualifications:
Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted
4+ years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of design principles, workplace trends and aesthetics
Knowledge of repositioning and adaptive re-use projects
Advanced knowledge of space planning
Knowledge of furnishings and finishes
Knowledge of concepts of furniture layout
Sketching and rendering skills
Architecture detailing skills
Knowledge of CDs and procedures
Knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements
Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
Strong Revit skills
Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills
