- PAA is seeking experienced, passionate theatre professionals who love to work with students and are excited to work in non-traditional theatrical spaces.
- Candidates must have a willingness to learn, be highly organized, self-motivated, and committed to working as part of larger teams. Programs are designed for ages 3 - grade 12 with some adult classes too.
- PAA's programs and classes encompass a wide variety of experience levels. With the exception of the advanced level, musical theatre programs have placement auditions that usually occur at least 4 weeks prior. More information on each program is located throughout our website.
- PAA operates as an independent 501 (C) 3 nonprofit organization located at 8817 South Broadway in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
- PAA hires 50+ contractors annually on a rolling basis and will only respond to selected applications.
- Due to the nature of PAA's activities, all hired employees and contractors are background checked every 1-3 years.

Assistant Technical Director & Master Carpenter
The Performing Arts Academy is seeking an hourly Assistant Technical Director and Master Carpenter for its summer season. Rates will start at $18-20/hr based on experience. Must have daytime availability from May 1 through August 1, including some nights and weekends. There is potential for the position to be extended beyond the summer season. PAA will produce 15+ musicals through June and July for students of all age groups. Ideal candidates can work quickly and with minimal instruction. They will have experience with common scenic building techniques primarily with lumber, as well as a multitude of craft and creative materials. They will be able to work independently as well as lead crews in loading in and striking sets. The ideal candidate can work responsibly and professionally around both kids and adults, and they can maintain a positive attitude under stressful situations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience with theatrical construction or adjacent construction experience
- Understanding of theatrical construction safety practices
- Basic understanding common theatrical building techniques for flats, platforms, etc.
- Experience with scenic painting, and scenic/props fabrication with materials including foam, cardboard, or other craft materials
- Basic knowledge of common theatrical A/V equipment and software (qLab, digital lighting consoles, theatrical lighting equipment, digital sound, and sound equipment)
- Assist Resident Tech Director in all technical aspects of PAA show and event production as needed
- Master Carpenter on all PAA productions
- Develop build plans and materials lists from design renderings, based on PAA stock
- Act as the lead builder/fabricator for all scenic aspects
- Manage build crews if applicable
- Lead load ins and strikes for all PAA productions as needed
- On-site board operator or lighting, projection, or sound designer for technical rehearsals and performances as needed
- Develop working knowledge of all PAA technical equipment, and assist in training contractors in use
- Assist in developing protocols and guidelines for equipment and locations
- Assist in maintaining working inventory of PAA equipment
- Work with Technical Director on budget, team numbers, inventory needs
- Other duties as needed
