Old Sturbridge Academy is seeking a Music and Performing Arts Teacher to develop and deliver a high-quality music and performing arts curriculum. The Music and Performing Arts teacher will be responsible for teaching choral and instrumental music as well as to create an environment where Academy Students in grades K-8 feel empowered to express themselves through song, dance, and drama. The Music and Performing Arts teacher will be expected to collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into the academic program. The Music and Performing Arts teacher will also be responsible for music during the weekly Town Meetings. Successful candidate must share OSACPS’s mission which will provide k-8 students with rigorous, real world learning experiences in a supportive and nurturing school community, helping all students to become reflective inquisitors, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled problem solvers. Successful candidate should have a collaborative spirit of “we are crew, not passengers.”

Mission
Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School will provide K-8 students with rigorous, real world learning experiences in a supportive and nurturing school community, helping all students to become reflective inquisitors, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled problem solvers. Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School, an EL Education (formerly known as Expeditionary Learning) school working in partnership with Old Sturbridge Village, will foster a learning environment that represents all aspects of the diversity spectrum where our students will meet or exceed grade-level expectations in all subject areas.

Responsibilities
· Experience teaching and designing curriculum for Music and Performing Arts classes
· Orff Certification strongly preferred
· Strong background in choral music
· Teach classes at multiple grade levels
· Ability to build and sustain an instrumental music program
· Ability to lead whole school weekly gatherings (Town Meeting)
· Experience designing standards-based curriculum that connects to learning expeditions
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Assist with duties to uphold a positive and safe school culture
· Teaching experience and/or professional learning which are consistent with our project-based, interdisciplinary education philosophy

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
· Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Music: Vocal/Instrumental/General Music (All Levels)
· Ability to play piano, guitar and recorder

We work together to support the safe and happy arrival and dismissal of our students, collaborate and plan together and use data to guide decision-making.
We are intentional about engaging our faculty and staff in the development of the Academy and of themselves. School wide professional meetings happen before the start of the school year and throughout. All staff are encouraged and expected to participate in school-funded professional development opportunities during the school year and over the summer as approved by the Principal.
Compensation: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
