Concordia University Chicago (CUC) seeks a dynamic and dedicated music faculty in the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Music or Music Education who will direct band ensembles, teach courses in the music curriculum and instrumental applied lessons. The successful candidate will demonstrate vibrant integration of the Christian faith with their pedagogy and relationships.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Direct band ensembles
- Teach music and music education courses and applied lessons
- Engage in recruitment efforts for the music program
- Integrate a Christian ethos into teaching, conducting, and relationships
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote a vibrant community in the Arts
- Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).
- Exhibits Christian servant leadership and investment in their church and local communities
- Utilizes technology and social media with ease to promote and recruit for CUC music endeavors
- Maintain an active schedule of professional development and participation in events related to music education and ensemble direction
- Supports other Department and University functions through service, such as committee work
- Improves work performance and that of others by being receptive to and appropriately sharing information
5 years as director of bands and or teaching music in high schools and higher education.
Education Requirements
- Preferred: DME or DMA
- ABD will be considered.
- Current teaching license is required.
- Undergraduate certification or colloquy completion as a professional church worker in the LCMS is preferred.

Salary: $55000 - $70000 per year
