About Foundation For Puerto Rico

Foundation for Puerto Rico (FPR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming Puerto Rico into a vibrant and sustainable economy for all. Since 2011, we have worked to expand economic opportunity across the island by activating the visitor economy, empowering communities, and fostering innovation. Our work is grounded in the belief that real change starts at the local level—with the people who know their communities best.

FPR leads multiple initiatives focused on regional transformation, data-driven planning, tourism preparedness, and economic resilience. Through partnerships with nonprofits, municipalities, and government agencies, we serve as a catalyst for collaborative, community-centered change.

Our Strategic Vision for Puerto Rico’s Eastern Region

Puerto Rico’s Eastern Region—home to 15 municipalities—is rich in culture, natural beauty, and community strength. However, many towns in this area face economic and infrastructure challenges. FPR’s Eastern Region Strategic Vision aims to transform this region into a model for inclusive development, centered around sustainable tourism, regional cooperation, and grassroots leadership.

Our Approach Focuses On

  • Improving transportation networks and visitor access
  • Strengthening small businesses and entrepreneurship
  • Preserving natural and cultural resources
  • Expanding community capacity and governance

This vision is being activated through our Community Innovation Hub, a collaborative platform for designing and implementing local solutions with long-term impact.
