In the role of Drainage Designer, you'll be responsible for: Assisting Senior Engineers with site studies, site designs, contract documentation, and graphic presentations. Providing project engineering support with a focus on drainage design for transportation and public transit projects throughout Southern California. Conducting hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, stormwater collection systems design, data analysis, report writing, and leading the preparation of engineering plans and specifications for detention facilities, storm drains, flood control, and hydraulic structures. Working independently and collaborating with medium to large teams of professionals and technicians. Involvement in highway and rail/transit drainage design, plans production for Caltrans and municipal clients, drainage analysis, and stormwater management permitting. Performing site layout, grading, utility layout, and drainage design. Completing routine engineering assignments with standard techniques and procedures. Managing projects with clear objectives and limited variables. Handling administrative duties related to project management. Working independently on small projects or supporting senior engineers on larger projects. Performing other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications Engineer in Training (EIT) certification; candidates without an EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator role with an expectation to obtain EIT for career growth. Preferably 6 years of relevant experience. Professional Engineer license. Experience with Caltrans projects is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Proficiency with hydrology and hydraulic software such as HydroWIN, WSPG, and Bentley Flowmaster. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, and experience with highway and road design software such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer, Civil 3D, or Autodesk InfraWorks.
