Archdiocese of Detroit is hiring: Part Time Music Teacher in Wixom

St. Catherine of Siena Academy is an all-girls Catholic high school in Wixom, Michigan. Our mission is to transform the culture by inspiring young women to discover and develop their feminine genius—their unique identity and gifts as women created in the image of God.

St. Catherine of Siena Academy is seeking a passionate and qualified Part-Time Music Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will be experienced in piano instruction, choral direction, and liturgical music, and will share our commitment to fostering a faith-filled, vibrant educational environment. This role includes accompanying and directing the school chorus during daily Mass, teaching piano and/or other instrumental courses, and leading a choral music class. This is a part-time position with the opportunity to grow along with the program and school community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Education or a related field
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in music (JX or JQ)
• Demonstrated experience teaching piano and directing vocal ensembles
• Strong understanding of Catholic liturgical music and ability to support student participation in school Masses
• A minimum of 3+ years of relevant teaching or performing experience preferred
• Demonstrates excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
• Enthusiastic about teaching in a Catholic, all-girls high school setting

• Skilled pianist and confident vocal musician
• Ability to plan and lead rehearsals, select appropriate repertoire, and coordinate performances
• Understanding of sacred music and the role of music in the Catholic liturgy
• Willingness to collaborate in building and growing a strong music and performing arts program
• Ability to engage and inspire students of varying musical abilities
• Proficient in using technology for music instruction and communication (e.g., Google Workspace, music notation software)
• Flexibility and a collaborative spirit to support a dynamic and mission-driven school environment
