Primary Function
The Proposal Writer/Coordinator will support all proposal operations and operate in a team environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts and team members to develop compliant, responsive, and compelling proposals in response to Federal Government solicitations. The candidate will actively participate in all phases of the proposal process from capture and strategy development all the way through submission.
Essential Functions
- Collaborates with appropriate points of contact to write and lead the development of all volumes required for each solicitation.
- Works as part of a collaborative team to clearly articulate solutions, strategy, approach to performing the work, experience, win themes, and discriminators.
- Applies interviewing methodologies as needed to gather required information from internal and external personnel to support writing activities.
- In concert with proposal team, writes clear, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections, translating complex ideas into easily understandable text.
- Leads responses to Requests for Information (RFI) and Sources Sought (SS).
- Assists in the development of graphics to communicate technical concepts.
- Assists in maintaining Salesforce.
- Develops database for past performance, capture plans, metric tracking, and other business development tools.
- Works closely with the proposal manager to ensure compliance with all terms & conditions of each solicitation.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Flexibility to occasionally work non-standard hours.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of English grammar, readability, and language effectiveness.
- Excellent written, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Experience preparing and briefing reports for senior leadership.
- Experience in document design and desktop publishing.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to conduct independent analyses, evaluations, and assessments.
- Strong work ethic and desire to grow professionally.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field required; BA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in similar tasks within a DoD contractor environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
- Experience managing structured proposal processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and Deltek products is preferred.
