Library Computer Specialist:
Performs a variety of technical tasks involving computers, network equipment and technology. This is a paraprofessional technical position, working under the general supervision of higher-level staff or a supervisor.
Maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and network problems.
Assist and instruct the public and staff in the use of PCs, internet usage, Wi-Fi, and AV equipment, including but not limited to the following: E-readers/E-books, LCD projectors, scanners, and printers.
Work closely with both IT and library staff.
Supervise a section of the library and enforce library rules and regulations tactfully.
Handle situations of security with mature judgment.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Education/Experience:
Associate’s degree in computer science or related field and two or more years of related working experience with computers, web sites and networks, or an equivalent combination of formal education and working experience.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
- None.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of general library procedures and practices; organization of the library and its resources; computer hardware, software, programs, and accessories.
Communication and organizational skills necessary to interact with the public, schedule meeting rooms, compile, create and submit calendars, flyers, press releases, statistics, and supply requests.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
