Job Summary

We are seeking a motivatedStudent Graphic Designerto join our team. In this role, you will work closely with authors to create and modify graphics for books, ensure proper permissions for images created by others, and maintain art logs following publisher specifications. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in graphic design within the publishing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with authors to produce or modify graphics, illustrations, and visual assets for books.
  • Obtain permissions for the use of images and other artwork created by external authors or artists.
  • Create and maintain detailed art logs that align with publisher specifications and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in preparing files for print and digital distribution, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to deadlines.

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at Purdue as a student in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and familiarity with other design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, etc.)
  • Ability to use new AI tools to draft new graphics or modify existing images.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow precise specifications and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn new software tools, including LaTeX.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with authors.
  • Legally able to work in the US.
