WUSA9, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C., is seeking a photojournalist passionate about storytelling, breaking news, and eager to work with a team of great reporters. This position is a vacation relief for the next two months, with potential to fill in as needed afterward.

If you are a self-starter capable of working independently or with a reporter, and can create compelling content across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms, we want to hear from you. Proficiency with the latest news-gathering technology, live shots, and editing tools is required. Join our team of talented storytellers and work alongside some of the best photojournalists and multi-skilled journalists in the country!

Responsibilities

  • Cover news, spot news, sports, weather, and feature stories, meeting deadlines.
  • Set up & shoot reporter live shots and edit packages using EDIUS.
  • Shoot and edit packages for air, including natsound pieces.
  • Conduct in-person interviews as needed.
  • Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas.

Requirements

  • Preferred: Journalism or communications degree.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a news photojournalist and editor.
  • Experience with non-linear editing and news-gathering equipment.
  • Operate ENG trucks or live units (Dejero) as assigned.
  • Knowledge of EDIUS, Adobe Premiere, or similar editing systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays; reliable and dependable.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
