BryceTech is currently looking for a Technical Writer to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Planning and Exercise Division (PED). The position offers flexible work location options at any of FEMA's 10 regional offices: Boston, MA; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Denton, TX; Kansas City, MO; Denver, CO; Oakland, CA; or Bothell, WA.
The role involves developing deliberate and crisis action plans, plan validation and exercises, training, data and geospatial analytics, and providing technical assistance. The Technical Writer will support program management, planning, policy, readiness, internal controls, administrative services, and business office support, operating in both unclassified and classified environments.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing qualitative and quantitative research and analysis of large data sets from sources like the Internet, FEMA Intranet, and FEMA Enterprise Data Warehouse.
Interpreting analysis results into well-structured written formats using appropriate templates.
Developing graphics to illustrate complex concepts.
Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Managing a centralized repository using FEMA SharePoint.
Organizing and supporting meetings, both in-person and virtual.
Ensuring compliance with federal accessibility guidelines (Section 508 and Section 255).
Qualifications include:
Possession of a DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
Emergency management experience, including knowledge of ICS and NIMS, with recognized training or education in emergency operations or planning.
At least six years of experience in writing and editing technical documents such as operational plans, needs assessments, and policy papers.
Strong writing skills and expertise in Section 508 compliance.
