Preferred Qualifications

Experience in grant writing specific to medical or osteopathic education. Knowledge of current research funding trends in healthcare and medical education. Proficiency with grant management software and databases.

Nature And Purpose Of Position

Plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day operations of the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) Research department with the oversight of the Director. Performs highly advanced and complex work in strategic operations and planning.

Primary Responsibilities

Plays a critical role in sustaining and expanding the College of Osteopathic Medicines (COM) funding portfolio, which has secured $23 million in federal grants and $2 million in state grants over the past two years, with additional proposals currently under review. Researches and identifies federal, state, and foundation grant opportunities aligned with COMs priorities, with a primary focus on large training and graduate medical education grants and a secondary focus on clinical, public health, and biomedical research grants. Provides ongoing grant management, including tracking deliverables, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and preparing progress reports. Collaborates with the Dean, Director of Research, and PIs to develop, write, and edit high-quality grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funding agency requirements and deadlines. Works withORSPto manage the grant submission process, including preparing budgets, narratives, and supporting documents. Works with the PIs and the Office of Research Administration on managing budgets and expenditures for awarded grants. Maintains a database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes to streamline future applications. Assists in building relationships with funding agencies and stakeholders to enhance COMs grant prospects. Provides training and professional development workshops to faculty in grant writing and management.

Other Specifications

Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills are essential, with the ability to translate complex scientific information into clear and compelling proposals. Strong organizational and project management skills are also required, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Familiarity with federal grant processes (e.g.,NIH,HRSA) and associated compliance requirements, and be able to work collaboratively with faculty, researchers, and administrative staff.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions.
