Salary max: $100,000.00
Level: Manager
Duration: Full Time
We are seeking a Managing Editor to lead the editorial and content strategy for BLKNWS and Rich Spirit’s expanding publishing arm. This is a senior creative and operational role for someone with an eye for long-form cultural storytelling and the ability to shape and scale editorial ecosystems. You’ll oversee a global contributor network and help craft Rich Spirit’s distinct POV across formats—Substack, video, audio, and social media.
You likely come from environments like The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Aperture, Dazed, or similar platforms where intellectual rigor, visual storytelling, and cultural depth co-exist. You’re fluent in the language of both critical theory and short-form video.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead editorial strategy across Rich Spirit platforms—BLKNWS, Substack, YouTube, Instagram, and beyond
● Commission, develop, and edit long-form essays, artist interviews, photo essays, and cultural reportage with global resonance
● Manage a network of contributing editors, writers, and artists across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and the African continent
● Own and manage the editorial calendar, working across departments (marketing, creative, production) to ensure cohesion and timeliness
● Develop and pitch new digital content formats—short-form video series, audio-first features, episodic franchises, and experimental hybrids
● Collaborate with our in-house art and design team to reinterpret long-form editorial into visual and social formats
● Shape and script digital editorial experiences specific to BLKNWS, world building beyond the film itself through BTS content, and issue-driven mini-series
● Ensure all content aligns with Rich Spirit and BLKNWS ethos—deep, poetic,
diasporic, cinematic, and rooted in cultural intelligence
