Position Overview

The Telecommunications Foreman is responsible for planning, organizing, and scheduling crews to complete assigned work orders. This includes assigning tasks, ensuring high-quality installation, performing quality inspections, monitoring task completion, compliance, and safety.

This role requires technical knowledge and experience in installing Telecommunication Systems such as Fiber Optic & Structured Cabling, CCTV, OSP & ISP Copper, and DAS. In a manufacturing environment, the position involves leading project teams in manufacturing assemblies supporting telecommunications cabling and equipment, in accordance with all applicable standards.

The position is based at the M. C. Dean modular construction facility in Charlotte, NC. Employees report daily on a fixed schedule unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

Position Requirements
  • Knowledge and safe use of hand tools and power tools
  • Wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Following safety policies and participating in safety briefings
  • Installing various types of Low Voltage Cable
  • Understanding and managing project schedules
  • Managing projects with 5+ personnel
  • Assisting in daily operations under supervision
  • Implementing safety, quality, and productivity standards
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, including conduit and cable tray pathways
  • Coordinating with other trades, GCs, and clients
  • Resolving work procedure and construction issues with management
  • Scheduling project steps to meet deadlines
  • Interpreting and explaining plans to field workers
  • Terminating, testing, troubleshooting Low Voltage Cabling
  • Installing pathways, cable trays, and telecommunications devices
  • Training and supervising technicians and apprentices
  • Performing quality assurance checks
  • Maintaining a clean work environment and securing tools/materials
Qualifications / Skills
  • 6+ years experience in commercial communications/construction
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory record
  • Ability to pass background and drug tests
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a basic telecommunication knowledge test
  • Punctuality and teamwork skills
  • Proper work attire and basic tools
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
Physical Abilities
  • Lift at least 100 pounds, work at heights up to 60 feet, climb ladders and scaffolds
  • Perform physical activities like walking, crawling, and reaching
  • Good vision and communication skills
  • Recognize problems and apply general rules to solve them
