THE PUBLIC THEATER is seeking a collaborative and creative Associate Audio Supervisor to join our Audio Department. We produce a wide breadth of programming, including an annual season of new work across six historic venues: five theaters at our Astor Place theater complex in the East Village as well as the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Our Audio Department is committed to providing designers, colleagues, and one another the best possible environment in which to create. The Associate Audio Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the execution of audio work across all projects, including mainstage productions at 425 Lafayette Street and Free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte Theater. You will work closely with the Audio Supervisor, play a key part in supporting all members of the department, and be an important collaborator on a range of important topics and decisions.

Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Audio Supervisor in departmental planning, decision-making, and problem-solving
• Support departmental staff on projects and provide leadership throughout production cycles
• Interview and evaluate overhire technicians; maintain an active awareness of available skillsets
• Guide the career development of overhire crew, from onboarding to leadership opportunities
• Recruit, train, and offer feedback to overhire teams
• Coordinate with designers and other production departments to advance and realize audio systems
• Assist in managing budgets for labor, rentals, and materials
• Research and source materials for specialty audio needs
• Collaborate with other production departments to facilitate safe and efficient work
• Obtain quotes, make purchases, and ensure timely delivery of audio equipment and supplies
• Oversee ClearCom systems at Astor Place and the Delacorte, including implementation and maintenance
• Contribute to the development of department processes and infrastructure improvements
• Uphold and promote safe working practices and conditions
• Lead and manage special projects as assigned

Required Competencies:
Demonstrated experience as a Production Audio or in similar roles on large-scale theatrical productions
• Proficiency in ClearCom intercom systems, Dante, Minotaur, and theatrical audio networks
• Strong working knowledge of theatrical rigging
• Excellent organizational, supervisory, and interpersonal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt and remain calm in high-pressure environments to meet deadlines
• Commitment to collaboration, creative problem-solving, and inclusive team culture

Working Conditions
• Mix of office-based tasks and indoor and outdoor physical labor
• Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions with safety protocols in place
• Evening, weekend, and extended hours required during peak production periods
• Occasional overnight shifts at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park may be required

Salary range: Minimum of $70,000

Health coverage and PTO are available with this position.

This is a full-time exempt position, according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
