Position Summary: As a Designer at BJU Press you will have the opportunity to shape the student and teacher experience through creative integration of visual and verbal resources in the production of educational materials… all from a biblical worldview!

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other departments regarding issues concerning the visual aspects, quality control, and print production of a project.
  • Develop visual components of a publication (which may include cover design, interior concept design, overall page layout/design, use of typography, icons, infographics, illustration, and other graphic elements).
  • Decide how best to present the information visually so that it is intentional, engaging, and well organized.
  • Work with the project team to decide which photographs and/or illustrations to use.
  • May also oversee workers engaged in illustration, layout design, and other content creation.
  • Work in concert with the project’s team to devise an overall concept, helping bring together words and visuals to enhance the communication of content.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • A strong sense of design and typography with an inherent knowledge of the roles they play in defining a brand and unifying the vision for a project.
  • The ability to conceptualize content and articulate it to co-workers.
  • Exhibits a high level of creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • A reputation for excellence.
  • Ensures adherence to style guidelines established for each assigned project.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite focused on Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
