Position Summary

The Acquisitions and Electronic Services Librarian is responsible for leading the procurement, licensing, and management of electronic information resources purchased by the law library. This position works with the Associate Dean for Library and Information Services on the library’s budget management, and collaborates with staff librarians for the selection, acquisition, and marketing of print and electronic resources. The librarian will also handle all library invoice payments and procurement activities.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Master's degree in Library or Information Services with at least 1 year of relevant experience in technical services, library systems, collection development, or serial acquisitions management. Experience with automated acquisitions or library systems and basic accounting systems is required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Preference for a Master's in Library and/or Information Science, with 2-3 years in an academic law library, electronic resource management experience, budget management skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Candidates currently enrolled in a Master's program may be considered.

Job Duties

  • Leading library acquisition functions: ordering, processing payments, contract renewals, record keeping, vendor liaison, and collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Managing and maintaining the law library budget: preparing budget requests, tracking expenditures, processing invoices, and scheduling vendor negotiations.
  • Supporting access to electronic materials: working with vendors, IT, and communications to resolve access issues, update website links, and track usage statistics.
  • Miscellaneous duties: supporting faculty liaison activities, managing library software access, serving as backup for mail and service desk duties, cross-training, and committee participation.
