We are seeking an IT Communications Specialist/Technical Writer who is a detail-oriented, self-starter with excellent communication skills to help us create technical and strategic deliverables for our federal agency clients. Key Responsibilities: + Serve as the lead facilitator between the client (NASA) and the technical team + Facilitate meetings with the client, including drafting agenda, facilitating the conversation with updates and roadblocks, document meeting notes, conveying client expectations to the team + Create and oversee documentation, including documenting user cases, creating 509 and plain language complaint documentation + Write executive-level briefings, white papers, standard operating procedures, after actions reports, situation reports, meeting minutes and additional project documentation. + Draft, expand, refine, and edit technical concepts, processes and solutions into comprehensive, compliant, and organized documents and guidance. + Consult with clients and internal technical team to create, maintain, and publish templates, technical resources, user guides/standard operating procedures, white papers, executive level briefings, policies, orientation materials, trainings, and other project documentation as needed. + Translate highly technical subject matter into communications materials which are clear and understandable to a wide audience. + Establish rapport and working relationships with clients, leadership executives, and subject matter experts and work with Help Desks to uncover needs. + Support IT project managers in communications planning, digital communications, materials development, related research and outreach. + Provide support across projects including managing project timelines, meetings, deliverables, and work plans, and developing monthly project reports. + Assume ownership of writing and communication project tasks and, with oversight from senior team members, complete key deliverables. As an IT Communications Specialist/Technical Writer, you will have: + Three or more years of experience creating documentation for IT, software, or other technology-based areas within agency, marketing, or IT environments + BS/BA in Business, Communications, English, Writing, Marketing, or equivalent in professional experience + Excellent client service and problem-solving skills + Talent for communicating clearly and concisely and working well with all types of personalities + Strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail + Flexibility to adapt to frequent changes and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment + Proficient in Windows PC environment, including Microsoft Office 365 applications Professional Skills: + Excellent verbal, written, organizational and project management skills + Ability to juggle multiple priorities, deadlines, and documentation suites at once + Ability to develop, document, and publish technical processes + Ability to understand, interpret, and translate complex and technical information + Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to clients’ communications challenges and problems + Ability to implement existing brand and style guides in alignment with client and industry standards + Ability to collaborate with others and incorporate feedback in deliverables + Proficiency in Windows PC environment, including Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Microsoft Word Desired Skills & Experience + Familiarity with federal Plain Language Guidelines + Familiarity with writing for Section 508 requirements + Familiarity with Agile and/or development cycles such as SDLC or EPLC + Experience working with cloud-based platforms, including Salesforce, Appian, ServiceNow, MuleSoft, etc. + Experience with image and video editing (such as Snagit and Camtasia) Job Location: Remote/Flexible Working at ICF Working at ICF means applying a passion for meaningful work with intellectual rigor to help solve the leading issues of our day.
