KXII 12 News is seeking a morning news producer for our Sherman newsroom to produce and edit our two-hour local morning newscast every weekday. This is a full-time, behind-the-scenes position working directly under the news director and morning anchors. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced, award-winning news team, and you’ll help put together the market’s top-rated morning newscast.
General responsibilities include:
Producing and editing a daily two-hour morning newscast ˑStrong news writing skills (broadcast and digital) ˑStrong video editing skills ˑCoordinating with reporters in the field and on live shots ˑOperating the teleprompter ˑPosting news stories online Updating station's social media platforms ˑAnswering news tip hotline ˑMonitoring emergency scanner traffic ˑOccasionally shoot and cover breaking/spot overnight news
Qualifications are:
Ability to write clear, concise and accurate broadcast copy ˑKnowledge of AP style ˑStrong English language and spelling & grammar skills ˑCompetent video editor with knowledge of non-linear program(s) such as FinalCut, Premiere, Edius, etc. Able to work independently Flexibility in scheduling to respond to the changing news landscape ˑA degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent professional experience, is preferred ˑSocial media savvy ˑAble to work as part of a team to achieve success
