Job Title: Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Designer
Primary Location: Lisle, IL (Hybrid)
Position Type: Contract (Long-Term)

TalentFish is casting a line for a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Designer! This is a contract role in Lisle, IL (hybrid). The purpose of this position is to support the development of HMI solutions for future electric vehicles, focusing on interaction design, interface development, and user-centered experience strategies within the in-vehicle display ecosystem.

• Background in human-centered design, human factors, or human-computer interaction

• Experience applying cognitive engineering and design principles to vehicle environments

• Automotive or heavy truck UI/UX design experience

• Proven ability to develop wireframes, use cases, personas, and storyboards

• Skilled in creating documentation/specifications for UX concepts

• Knowledge of ISO, SAE, and NHTSA standards related to HMI/UX

• Familiar with Figma or comparable design software

• Experience in presenting design concepts to stakeholders at all levels

• Previous experience working in Agile teams

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Translate user insights into HMI design proposals and concepts

• Benchmark user interfaces across industry and non-industry applications

• Develop and refine wireframes, personas, use cases, and HMI design specifications

• Design physical HMI interaction concepts for vehicle components

• Participate in creative reviews, team sessions, and present design concepts

• Collaborate with Product Planning, Engineering, Visual Graphic Design, and Program Management

• Contribute to the development of user interaction guidelines

• Assist with user research, usability testing, and system-level HMI validation

The expected salary range for this position is $70-80 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
