About the role
A brief summary
Riot Games’ Remote Broadcast Center (RBC) Powered by AWS is part of Riot’s innovative approach to creating a centralized global broadcast model through strategically placed RBCs worldwide. Launched as “Project Stryker,” these RBCs enhance capacity for Riot’s esports content and ensure top-tier quality and consistency across all esports productions.
We seek a skilled Audio Operator to QC the audio output during live broadcasts. As a key member of the Audio Team, you will prepare and execute audio requests in a collaborative environment, working with the latest Calrec desks and Riedel panels to ensure high-quality audio for talent, teams/players, and in-game sound.
The ideal candidate will be a clear and confident communicator, adaptable to on-air changes, and able to remain calm under pressure. The goal is to deliver a quality audio experience that informs and inspires viewers worldwide.
The successful candidate will be assigned to Riot’s RBC, focusing on live esports broadcasts of championships and tournaments globally. This role reports to the Audio Lead, is based in the Greater Seattle Area, and may require international travel.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Loading and editing stings/idents, etc.
- Building sources via internal router software and desk.
- Creating workflows for show assets to improve broadcast efficiency.
- Playing audio cues live and timely.
- Monitoring audio levels to meet loudness standards.
- Collaborating with GFX, EVS, and other departments to ensure correct audio levels on replays.
- Monitoring multiple feeds to ensure compliance.
- Ensuring copyright compliance to avoid streaming issues.
- Providing tailored audio assistance, such as fitting in-ears or radio mics.
- Supplying various mixes for departments, feeds, and sponsors.
- Reviewing and refining audio of packages and recaps for upcoming broadcasts.
- Documenting tasks and issues post-show.
- Maintaining and updating SOPs, and sharing knowledge.
- Training and mentoring colleagues.
- Performing other related duties as needed.
This role is for you if
- You have experience mixing medium to large-scale live events.
- You have a solid understanding of AoIP, SMPTE 2110, and AES67.
- You are experienced with Calrec and Riedel systems.
- You have basic knowledge of network engineering, especially AoIP systems.
- You have basic skills in audio editing software such as Ableton Live.
