We are also especially interested in candidates who have experience working with diverse populations and/or diverse initiatives.JOB TITLE:Assistant Librarian - Electronic Resources LibrarianJOB PURPOSE:The University of Wyoming Libraries seeks a creative, collaborative, and patron-focused librarian to support world-class research and teaching through the acquisition of electronic resources from a variety of sources. The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for managing the lifecycle of the libraries’ electronic resources, including the renewing, licensing, preserving, activating, and troubleshooting of electronic resources. This position collaborates with members of the Resource Discovery & Management (RDM) Department, other departments within the University Libraries, and external constituents.This position reports to the Chair of Collections.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in the life cycle of collection activities by collaborating with members of the RDM Department, and other teams, units, and departments across campus to ensure collections meet student and faculty needs. RDM includes team members that oversee UW Libraries' collections, acquisitions, electronic resources, and discovery teams.
- Provide leadership in the overall management of electronic resources from selection & contracting to activation & implementation and renewal or cancellation.
- Coordinate access to electronic resources through the Alma library services platform, Springshare A-Z list, and OCLC hosted proxy service; troubleshoot and fix issues.
- Initiate resource trials, vendor negotiations, and license agreements.
- Communicate, interact and negotiate with colleagues, vendors, publishers, and library consortia for selection and evaluation of library resources.
- Collaborate on gathering and evaluating data from multiple sources, including usage data, collection and expenditure data, and other data as needed for both decision making and reporting.
- Maintain an awareness of the trends and issues affecting acquisitions and collection development and management.
- Represent the department and libraries on committees as requested.
- Document policies and procedures to ensure knowledge management and consistent practices.
- ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in library/information science or ALA-recognized equivalent by start date.
- Experience with or knowledge of at least one library collections functional area: collections management, collection development, electronic resource management, or collections assessment.
- Experience with or knowledge of supporting and/or managing library or related collections.
- Experience with or knowledge of managing electronic resources.
- Experience with or knowledge of library services platforms such as Alma, Sierra, Folio, Symphony, etc.
- Experience with or knowledge of cataloging/metadata standards.
- Experience with interpreting analytics and data.
- Experience with or knowledge of current acquisition models in libraries such as demand-driven acquisition, firm orders, approval plans, etc.
- Experience working with vendors on materials acquisition.
- Experience with acquisitions workflows in an integrated library system.
