SALARY: $59,924.80 Annually

Associates degree and two years' experience in building maintenance and project management; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.

Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's license and be insurable by the District's insurance carrier. Must provide own means of transportation.

Successful completion of a drug screen and criminal background investigation is required prior to employment.

Evening and weekend work hours may be required.

Position Summary:

This supervisory and administrative role involves overseeing construction, maintenance, and renovation projects within the Alachua County Library District. Responsibilities include project management, inspecting subcontractor work, and supervising the facilities team.

Examples of Duties:

• Supervises Building Mechanics, assigns duties, reviews work, and conducts performance evaluations.
• Assists in policy formulation and project planning, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Coordinates with purchasing and contractors for bids, specifications, and project execution.
• Inspects construction work, ensures compliance with standards, and manages project closeout procedures.
• Maintains safety standards, evaluates facilities, and conducts safety and energy inspections.
• Operates district vehicles and performs related duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and general maintenance hazards and safety precautions.
• Skills in technical report writing, data management, and supervising staff.
• Ability to inspect facilities, evaluate subcontractor performance, and interpret plans and specifications.
• Effective communication skills and ability to establish positive relationships with stakeholders.

Physical Demands:

Requires standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, climbing, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, and specific vision abilities.

Work Environment:

Exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, outdoor weather, and other conditions with a moderate to loud noise level.
