The Digital Content Strategist is a key member of the Marketing team and crafts compelling, engaging narratives, both written and video, that capture audience attention and motivate them to act. This position will set the digital storytelling strategy, including content campaign development, execution and measurement. Strategic input to organic social media strategy and social media management is critical to taking the Rescue Mission digital marketing, brand awareness and audience engagement to the next level. Success in this role requires both creativity and strategic thinking, particularly the ability to evaluate metrics, draw insights, and make data-informed decisions that improve reach, engagement, and impact. This role partners closely with the Social Media & Marketing Coordinator, providing creative leadership while supporting consistent, coordinated messaging.

You love uncovering stories, crafting high-quality short-from video, and shaping messaging that moves hearts and minds.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a Member of the Marketing Team
Meet regularly with the Marketing Team and Programs Department
Collaborate to execute strategic, creative campaigns
Support fundraising and cultivation goals through compelling digital content
Help achieve department revenue goals through engaging storytelling
Ensure on time delivery of assets to meet campaign launch timelines
Digital Storytelling Strategy & Content Creation
Develop and execute creative digital content strategies for organic growth across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
Lead creative direction for expanding SDRM’s presence on TikTok and YouTube Shorts
Produce high-quality short-form videos using DSLR cameras, Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video editing software
Pitch and produce story-driven content series that highlight transformation, impact, and hope
Stay current on social trends, algorithm changes, and best practices
Write strong captions, hook lines, and call-to-actions that drive engagement
Ensure content aligns with brand guidelines, campaign goals, and strategic themes
Regularly track and deliver performance reports on social media, email and digital marketing campaigns
Stay updated on industry trends, technology and best practices in digital/social media, communications and marketing
Campaign & Brand Support
Support creative development for seasonal appeals, event promotions, and ministry highlights
Contribute written content and collaborate on campaign ideation
Maintain consistency in voice, tone, and visual storytelling across platforms
Provide content assets to support the Marketing Coordinator and agency partners
Support Events and On-Site Content Needs
Capture photo/video at events, behind the scenes, and on site as needed
Help brainstorm and build pre/post-event content plans with the marketing team
Create event recap reels and visual assets for donor-facing follow-up
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Communications, Digital Media, Digital Marketing Journalism or related field
Experience
3-4+ years of digital content creation and organic social strategy
Demonstrated success producing short-form video (Reels, TikTok, etc.)
Proficiency with DSLR cameras and Adobe Premiere Pro required
Nonprofit, faith-based, or recovery community experience a plus
Skills & Abilities
Creative thinker with strong visual storytelling instincts
Savvy digital marketer with a knack for storytelling
Excellent writing and verbal communication
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products and PC platforms
Skilled at editing, post-production, and publishing across platforms
Self-starter with strong project management and attention to detail
Team player with a positive attitude and adaptability
Excellent time management, adaptability, judgement and decision-making
Environment & Expectations
Some evening or weekend work may be required
Travel locally as needed for events and content collection
Must be comfortable working in environments with vulnerable populations
Must maintain confidentiality and represent SDRM with integrity
