Structural Designer

We are seeking an experienced Structural Designer to join a dynamic team specializing in steam and power projects, with additional work in pulp and paper, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. This role focuses on designing and drafting structural steel systems for heavy industrial environments, requiring proficiency in Tekla 3D and AutoCAD software.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design drawings for structural steel systems to ensure timely and cost-effective construction.
• Collaborate with civil and structural engineers during all project phases.
• Review structural steel drawings and vendor submissions for errors, omissions, and contract compliance.
• Assist with project planning, including man-hour estimation and drawing list preparation.
• Attend weekly project meetings and establish a weekly working agenda.
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical engineers/designers to ensure seamless project integration.
• Update and maintain CAD standards to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Participate in company-wide CAD meetings and initiatives.
• Perform occasional fieldwork (5-10% travel) to support project requirements.

Qualifications Required:

• 5-15 years of structural steel design experience in a heavy industrial environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Tekla 3D software (latest versions).
• Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and vendors.

Qualifications Preferred:

• Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D software.
• Experience in steam and power projects.
• Familiarity with natural gas and oil-fired facilities.

Location: Kennesaw, GA (Atlanta metro area)

Schedule: Monday-Thursday (9-hour days), Friday (4-hour day)

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Term: 6-month temp-to-permanent (TTP) assignment, with direct hire as an option

Pay Range: $31.25 - $60.00/hour (based on experience)
