Adjunct, Media LiteracyJob Category: AdjunctRequisition Number: ADJUN001182Posted: August 06, 2025Part TimeOn-siteRate:Monmouth University Main CampusWest Long Branch, NJThe Communication department at Monmouth University is seeking applications for Adjunct Professors for 1-2 sections of Media Literacy, a core Communication requirement that introduces students to a range of critical thinking skills for use when encountering media materials, including television/streaming/video, radio, podcasts, print news, social media, and other Internet resources.The candidate would be expected to teach 3 - 6 credits per semester and work with students to develop an understanding of the complex functions of the mass media industries and an understanding of the aesthetic, emotional, cognitive, and moral choices involved in interpreting media messages.Class schedules are determined based on departmental needs and candidate availability. Courses are taught in person at the West Long Branch campus. Adjunct positions remain posted continuously to expand the university's pool of qualified adjunct faculty. - Teach 3-6 credits during the semester.
- Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives.
- Provide time during the week to meet with students outside of class.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success.
- Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
