Description of Task to be Performed:
AnaVation is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team and support our mission-critical customer in Reston, VA. As our Technical Writer, you will provide coordination and authoring of technical writing and editing for all phases of documentation control and deployment. Responsibilities include the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation. The Technical Writer will compose and edit technical documentation for hardware and software, including installation, configuration, code documentation, and user guides. Additionally, the role involves providing field, data definition, and data flow documentation, formatting technical publications from pamphlets, drawings, and consultations with technical personnel. This position requires proficiency with tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience
- Active IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+)
- Strong technical writing skills, including content generation, interviews, drafts, and reviews
- Experience with document version control and formal documentation processes
- Excellent technical editing skills for clarity, grammar, and formatting
- Experience writing manuals, user guides, operational specs, and training materials
- Ability to organize complex document delivery and coordinate peer reviews
- Experience with cataloging, record maintenance, and archiving
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desktop publishing experience
- Ability to create technical drawings, graphics, and figures quickly
- Experience with document formats, styles, and style guides
