Santa Monica Studio is seeking an experienced producer for the development of a new unannounced title!
The Production Team at SMS excels at creative problem solving and communication. We thrive on being at the intersection of people and productivity as the glue that holds the studio together. Whether by being leaders of the craft of production management or partners who will clear the path ahead, the production team is here to move development forward and deliver quality.
We are looking for a Producer to join our Worlds team. In this role, you will collaborate with producers, creative leads, and directors to support the production pipeline across all phases of development, from initial design through final approval. You’ll support VFX and Lighting planning and execution, manage key deliverables including lighting passes and VFX shot data, work closely with art and engineering teams on road mapping, and provide day-to-day production support for the Lighting and VFX teams.
Responsibilities
Manage Production Areas
- Facilitate development efforts to keep product development on schedule and within budget
- Develop and maintain project schedules, triage day-to-day production issues
- Ensure regular and effective communication between internal and external team members to share project status and problem solve
Proactively Seek Resolution
- Breakdown and prioritize work for teams, identify problems and propose solutions, provide data-drive impact analysis
- Ensure stakeholders have proper visibility into development and are informed of any changes that may impact their teams
Support Product Development Needs
- Maintain and improve relationships amongst development team
- Partner with team managers to help provide team assignments which support career growth
- Participate in yearly performance review process by capturing feedback
- Provide guidance for the work of associate producers or prod coordinators
Skills
Project Management / Production
- Proven experience producing high-performing cross-functional teams
- Excellent organizational & prioritization skills, attention to detail
- Self-starter, you approach challenges creatively and methodically, seeing them through to final resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to communicate effectively across product development and management teams
- Adapts quickly to changing project priorities and emergent needs
- Knowledgeable of current industry trends: stays up-to-date on competitive products and new production methodologies
- Must love games and have a passion for crafting them!
Education & Experience
- At least 5-7 years of production experience in a AAA game development environment
- Familiarity with traditional waterfall production management techniques and Agile techniques, including SCRUM and Kanban
- Directing and partnering with producers
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, P4V, Microsoft Office (Project and Excel)
Preferred Experience
- Experience with ShotGrid
- Produced or guided Lighting or VFX through a full production cycle
- Ability to communicate with engineers on technical topics
- Experienced with two or more published titles
- PMP or equivalent certification
