Worship Music Administrator
Location: The Riverside Church in the City of New York (New York, NY)
Reports to: Executive Minister
Department: Worship
Schedule: Full Time, Exempt
Pay Range: $58,000 to $62,000
Start Date: August 2025
Position Summary:
The Worship & Music Administrator is an administratively gifted professional who supports the Executive Minister in all administrative responsibilities related to worship at The Riverside Church in the City of New York. The Worship & Music Administrator ensures that all worship services are prepared and executed with care and organizational excellence in alignment with Riverside’s mission, values, and tradition.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Administrative Leadership
- Leads weekly worship planning meetings with clergy, music staff, tech team, and lay leaders.
- Attends and supports monthly Worship Commission meetings, providing agendas, minutes, and follow-up items.
- Prepares bulletins and scripts of worship (SOWs).
- Administers and monitors the worship budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
- Recruitment and Scheduling
- Supports the Executive Minister in recruiting and scheduling guest preachers, worship leaders, liturgists, dancers, and other worship participants.
- Ensures all worship participants are welcomed, oriented, and prepared for their roles.
- Follows up with Bible in a Minute contributors regarding deadlines and publishing dates.
- Sunday Morning Management
- Oversee day of and on-the-ground needs for Sunday morning worship, including:
- Rehearsing and preparing liturgists.
- Supporting communion setup and distribution.
- Coordinating with clergy, music director, ushers and other worship participants.
- Ensuring worship materials (bulletins, slides, SOWs) are prepared and accurate.
- Tracking Sunday morning online congregant engagement.
- Oversee day of and on-the-ground needs for Sunday morning worship, including:
- Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Works with clergy and the Worship Commission to establish methods for evaluating worship outcomes.
- Assists in gathering feedback and implementing improvements to continually enhance the worship experience.
- Weekday Support
- Provides administrative and logistical support for Space for Grace, the church’s monthly Wednesday evening worship service.
- Provides administrative support for the Digital Minister for Worship and Education.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Theological training (seminary degree or equivalent experience) valued but not essential.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in worship planning and administration in a church or faith-based organization.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and volunteers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn church-specific software like End Design.
- Basic video editing and content publishing/scheduling skills a plus.
