Description
SAIC is seeking a Senior Communications Engineer to join our team supporting the Air Operations Center Weapons System (AOC WS) Falconer Program. The position is located at the USAF customer site in Hampton, VA, reporting to the Fielding, Logistics, and Site Support Team (FLSST) IPT Lead. Extensive travel to AOC sites worldwide may be required.
This role requires a solid understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) and configuration management principles, along with experience in mission planning, scheduling, installation, upgrade, and sustainment of the AOC Radio / Datalink baseline. The successful candidate will effectively interact face-to-face with customers and contractors, respond to information requests, support technical meetings, interchanges, and enterprise working groups. The ability to work independently and represent SAIC in meetings with government and contractor teams is essential.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Day-to-day sustainment and support of the installed AOC RF and Datalink baseline.
- Supporting major upgrade projects.
- Providing technical expertise to assist AOC sites in mitigating risks during baseline transitions.
- Helping site Radio and Datalink Maintainers/Administrators improve proficiency.
- Supporting site personnel during on-site training provided by the program office.
- Assisting in closing action items in the Fielding Summary Memorandum (FSM) and Site-Specific Engineering Plan (SSEP); developing FSM and SSEP as needed.
- Configuring, troubleshooting, and migrating to new AOC RF and Datalink components.
- Capturing site variances, data migration, application tuning, security patches, trouble tickets, and configuration to minimize downtime.
- Attending technical exchange, engineering, and follow-up meetings.
- Recommending changes to AOC configuration management.
- Providing recommendations on performance, security, and other baseline-related issues.
- Completing all fielding objectives by deadlines.
- Participating in site and SPO fielding meetings.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to set achievable site-specific objectives.
- Tracking lessons learned and metrics, sharing with the team.
- Assisting with Verification and Validation Assessments and other SPO events as needed.
Qualifications
Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience or master's degree with 5+ years of experience.
- Industry certifications or experience may substitute for formal education.
- Current DoD Secret security clearance, eligible for SCI.
- Current IAT Level 2 Certification (Sec+ or higher).
Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Familiarity with military RF communication and Datalinks.
- Experience in mission management or command & control domains.
- Knowledge of RF / Datalink system administration, including requirements management, configuration, and functional analysis.
- At least two years of experience with four or more of the following hardware/software platforms:
- AN/PRC-117G TACSAT Radio

- Radio Distribution System (RDS) or WAVE configurations

- Joint Air Defense System Integrator
- Link Monitoring Management Tool (LMMT)
- High Performance Waveform (HPW)
- GPS receivers/antennas/splitters/time servers
- Global Broadcast System (GBS) radios/antennas/distribution
- Satellite, LOS, and HF antennas
- Fiber Optic Remote Antenna Extension (FORAX)
- RF / Datalink infrastructure at AOCs
- Lightning Protection systems
- Installation of RF infrastructure (cables, NEMA boxes, demarcation points)
Additional skills include:
- Radio network troubleshooting.
- Technology integration liaison duties.
- Ability to identify and correct errors in system diagrams and documentation.
