JOB DESCRIPTION: Dakota Bodies is looking for a highly motivated individual to design utility and service truck bodies utilizing SolidWorks 3D modeling software.

We have a diverse customer base with body orders ranging from standard packages to highly customized solutions. Responsibilities:

• Gain knowledge in modeling sheet metal parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with fellow designers to learn proper design methods and standards.
• Design bodies that meet customer specifications.
• Communicate with customers and implement requested design changes.
• Coordinate with the costing team to ensure accurate pricing.
• Create clear and concise body drawings for production.
• Develop part drawings for vendors.
• Prepare bills of materials for purchasing.
• Assist the production team to improve build efficiencies on large orders.
• Understand how shop equipment capabilities/limitations impact part designs.
• Work with the quality team to resolve warranty claims satisfactorily.
• Be reliable and work diligently to meet production schedules.

Qualifications:

• Self-motivated and reliable.
• Quick learner with the ability to apply standard practices.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Open to receiving and utilizing constructive criticism.
• 2+ years degree or equivalent experience in drafting, designing, or engineering.
• Preferred but not required: experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling.
• Preferred but not required: experience with any 2D drafting software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
