Position Description
Methodist University Davis Memorial Library seeks applicants for a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty member as an Electronic Resources Librarian. This role involves coordinating and providing digital library resources and information databases, along with managing the technical features to ensure their operation. The librarian will also deliver professional library services, including instruction and research consultations.
Duties Include:
- Maintaining the electronic collection of databases, serials, documents, eBooks, audiovisuals, Open Educational Resources, and other materials, assisting users in accessing and utilizing digital resources.
- Establishing and managing workflows for electronic resource acquisition, licensing, implementation, and assessment.
- Managing web-based content systems such as Lib Guides, A-Z Database lists, and the library chat service.
- Troubleshooting electronic access and subscription issues, coordinating with campus IT, and liaising with vendors or representatives as needed.
- Negotiating pricing, ensuring contract compliance, and maintaining electronic resource agreements with vendors and publishers. Staying informed on trends and best practices through professional development.
- Participating in the Reference and Instructional team, providing instruction for various classes, and liaising with the College of Health Sciences and Human Services.
- Serving on university committees and performing other library duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library or information science program.
- Three to five or more years of experience in an academic library, including at least three years as a professional librarian with instruction and electronic resource management experience.
- Experience with integrated library systems and related software/hardware such as link resolvers, proxy servers, discovery layers (e.g., Summon or Primo), and database technologies like MySQL and Microsoft Access. Experience with Alma is preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships with vendors, consortia, and the university community.
