In November 2022, Netflix introduced a new ad-supported tier to provide more viewing options and attract new, budget-conscious members while offering advertisers targeted engagement opportunities. We are now in our third year of this initiative, with more innovations on the horizon. Our Team The Ads Platform Engineering organization develops advertising systems that leverage Netflix's content delivery ecosystem. We utilize a mix of client and server-side ad insertions, advanced content delivery, ad encoding, content understanding, and metadata to deliver ads that enhance viewer experience and meet advertiser goals. We ensure brand safety and the relevance of ads for our members. The Delivery & Platform Foundations team creates the control plane for ad serving, acting as the interface between advertiser intent and ad delivery. We enable seamless integration, automation, compliance, troubleshooting, and management of ad delivery components, collaborating with teams across Netflix to optimize ad serving and build foundational tools for the larger Ads Platform engineering organization. Our focus areas include: Creating applications for managing the ads ecosystem efficiently Developing tools for ad setup and execution during live events Providing transparency and insights on campaign performance Collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable solutions Despite being a new team, we aim to build high-performance advertising systems that monetize Netflix's content and differentiate us in the rapidly growing CTV ad space. We seek motivated engineers passionate about this journey. Skills & Experience Were Seeking 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in the ads domain Strong knowledge of ad tech, programmatic advertising, and digital marketing trends Experience with the full campaign lifecycle, including audience targeting, creatives, measurement, forecasting, ad serving, reporting, billing, and OMS Proficiency in cloud-based application development and modern programming languages (preferably object-oriented) Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship skills Nice To Haves Contributions to ad industry standards (e.g., VAST, OpenRTB) or industry groups Knowledge of legal compliance and global ad regulations Experience with CTV advertising and its unique constraints Experience with ads on live content Compensation & Benefits The role offers an annual salary range of $230,000 to $960,000, with flexible compensation options between salary and stock options.
