Therapist - Art, Music or Recreational Therapy
We are seeking a qualified Activity Therapist with expertise in Art, Music, or Recreational therapy. The therapist will be part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, providing therapeutic recreational and activity services to adult, adolescent, or child patients under DBHH care for emotional or substance abuse issues.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing activity therapeutic treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
- Applying AT Theory and methodology effectively.
- Completing timely and accurate documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, group notes, and discharge referrals.
- Planning and preparing for activities.
- Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., recreational therapy, music therapy). Art Therapists require a Master's degree. Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills.
- Licenses: Certification or registration (e.g., CTRS, ATR) preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years in a healthcare setting or relevant education and experience. Inpatient psychiatric experience is a plus.
- Skills & Abilities: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Screening: Successful background check, drug screen, physical, and positive employment references required.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to perform physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and other physical tasks as described.
