Overview

The Senior Manager, Communication and Media Relations will report to leadership of the Marketing & Communication team, implementing internal communication, executive communication, and media relations strategies for the YMCA of Greater Seattle. Responsibilities include drafting content, media inquiries, crisis communication, and storytelling that aligns with the Y’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to promote YMCA programs and initiatives.
  • Manage media relations, including writing press releases and coordinating media events.
  • Support crisis communication efforts and develop messaging guidelines for staff and volunteers.
  • Create impactful internal and external communications, including reports, newsletters, and executive messages.
  • Build relationships with media partners and identify opportunities for media coverage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 6-8 years in corporate communication or brand management.
  • Minimum 2 years media relations experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and stakeholder management skills.
