Job Description

MYSA is looking to build on its growing audience across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. We seek a strategic, creative, and curious journalist who is comfortable creating engaging content, appearing on camera, and producing short videos (from 15 seconds to 3 minutes) tailored to target audiences. Responsibilities

1. Plan, develop, shoot, and edit social-first videos that reflect the brand identity and goals of MySA.
2. Create video explainers, graphics, documentary-style, scripted, and hosted videos requiring research, news reporting, and storyboarding in studio and field settings.
3. Collaborate with the Executive Producer and stakeholders to set visual tone, develop content strategy, and innovate with new formats in a fast-paced news environment.
4. Maintain a pipeline of creative ideas for short-form videos to meet production goals.
5. Engage with social followers and use feedback to refine content and strategy.

Critical Skills

1. At least 3 years of experience in reporting, writing, producing, and editing video, preferably in news.
2. Proficiency with video editing and design software such as Canva, Photoshop, After Effects, or similar.
3. Knowledge of social media publishing and analytics tools like SocialFlow, CrowdTangle, Google Analytics.
4. Ability to work independently while maintaining open communication and teamwork.
5. Strong news judgment, media ethics, and cultural awareness.
6. Understanding of San Antonio and southeastern Texas communities.
