Job Summary: The Director of Operations and Programming at Griffin Radio oversees the day-to-day operations of the radio stations and their various sub-units. This role involves coordinating and administering a range of operational and administrative activities to ensure delivery of high-quality radio programming. The Director will manage and schedule station programming, ensuring that the station always sounds its best and meets the needs of listeners.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the continuous, multifaceted daily operations of the radio stations, ensuring compliance with broadcast standards, company policies, and relevant federal and state laws and regulations.
- Participate in the establishment, organization, and implementation of short and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and implement changes required for improvement.
- Assign and allocate work, and oversee personnel engaged in continuous station operations; perform recruitment, training, scheduling, retention, problem resolution, and performance management.
- Supervise Brand Managers who assign on-air shifts; oversee the training of operators; evaluate employee performance; recommend disciplinary actions.
- Seek out, select, and order programming for broadcast from a variety of vendors; maintain contracts with vendors for program broadcast rights in conjunction with Brand Managers.
- Interpret FCC policies that affect the on-air duties or performance of radio announcers and operators; advise on equipment and supply needs.
- Serve as a representative of the radio station at community and other public meetings.
- Maintain imaging and promotions, motivate and coach high-profile talent in collaboration with Brand Managers.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.

- Bachelor’s degree in Radio Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field. Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience preferred in program management in the broadcasting field, with at least 1 year of supervisory duties.
- Proven track record in obtaining rating results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of FCC and other federal, state, and local broadcasting regulations.
- Exceptional people skills with a strong emphasis on coaching and growing talent.
- Attention to detail in the execution of strategic plans across multiple formats.
- Ability to operate radio equipment.
- Knowledge of on-air and remote broadcasting processes and procedures.
- Excellent motivation, servant leadership, and organizational skills.
- Collaborative management style.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to evaluate and improve programming.
- Critical listening skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to the company.
