Engineer Technical Writer

Clearance Level: Must have an Interim Clearance (Secret) to be considered for this position due to the nature of the work. MUST BE US

About the Role:

Aquila Technology seeks an Engineer Technical Writer to support a leading defense research organization. The role involves translating complex technical descriptions into clear, comprehensive documentation, including manuals and reference materials.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an interim or active Secret clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willing to undergo a security background investigation; Aquila sponsors the clearance.
  • Located within 100 miles of Lexington, MA

Responsibilities:

  • Consolidate manuals, field guides, and reference materials
  • Develop and maintain Wiki pages
  • Create a library of code written by Lincoln staff

Additionally, the role involves running VHDL simulations, documenting results, and performing functionality comparisons.

The ideal candidate has experience with signal processing, design drawings, communication hardware, and electrical engineering, especially RF and digital systems. Familiarity with cables, connectors, and general functionality is required.

Skills Needed:

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel
  • Visio, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Understanding of VHDL and networking technologies
  • Experience with Modelsim, Vivado (Xilinx)

Additional Skills:

  • JIRA & Confluence
  • Adobe FrameMaker

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years creating industry-standard library elements
  • 7+ years R&D/STEM content familiarity
  • 5+ years technical writing
  • 2+ years networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
  • 2+ years VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog firmware development

Preferred: Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, FrameMaker.
