Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
NBC Select, NBC News's fast-growing product recommendation and shopping site is looking to hire a talented and experienced temporary Senior Social Media & Newsletters Editor to help run the day-to-day for its NYC-based brand at least four days a week for about four to six months, to be extended if needed. The senior editor will be responsible for stepping in while the current Senior Manager, Community Engagement is on leave to execute strategy and oversee the day-to-day content production and optimization on a variety of e-commerce topics, focusing on building traffic, followers and subscribers, engagement and revenue. They will also manage a team of social media and video editors. Professional experience organizing, strategizing, ideating, writing and editing for social media channels, newsletters and other audience development outlets required. You will be responsible for the social media and newsletter edit calendars, reviewing and editing content and interpreting analytics into actionable strategies and tactics that benefit readers and help meet business goals. You will collaborate with other stakeholders and teams, including art, analytics, audience development, partnerships, editorial and the NBC News social media and platforms teams. Experience managing a team is also a must. The ideal candidate is a strong leader and project manager with a proven track record of building audiences.
This is a project-based position with an estimated duration of 6 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables are completed.
What we'll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:
- Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months
- Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment
- Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment
Salary range: $85,000-$110,000
Qualifications
- 5 or more years social media experience at a major media brand, commerce experience a plus
- 3 or more years managing a team
- Proven track record of expanding the social reach of a media outlet or brand
- Proven track record of growing newsletter list of a media outlet or brand
- Experience with identifying content distribution platforms and monetization opportunities
- Work experience for a major news brand a plus
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Firm grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation rules (AP Style)
- Ability to organize and manage many different tasks at once
- Experience reporting and translating data for key stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams
- Demonstrated experience packaging/publishing on social media accounts and in newsletters for a news outlet(s)
- Knowledge of video and graphic editing software a plus
