What You Will Do

GFT is currently seeking a Highway Designer / Highway Engineer to join our Eastern PA highway team. This hybrid position will be based out of either Valley Forge Office (Audubon, PA), Philadelphia Office or Lehigh Valley Office (Fogelsville, PA). This is an exciting time to join the GFT team!

This individual will primarily perform design activities on highway projects but may be required to assist other departments as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with his/her supervisor and more experienced project managers, engineers and designers.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

The successful candidate will be focused on designing projects for clients such as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, municipalities and private clients. The candidate will be able to grow as a civil/highway designer for transportation and/or municipal projects. The candidate will work with team members to deliver quality design work, on time and build client relationships through the successful delivery of transportation projects.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Perform design tasks, plans preparation, report preparation, and calculations for various transportation projects.
  • Provide overall assistance in multifaceted highway/transportation projects.
  • Perform quantity estimates, cost estimates, and prepare specifications.
  • Check calculations, reports, and drawings
  • Run models, CAD and design software

Education | Experience:

What You Will Bring To Our Firm

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering required, focus in Transportation preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) strongly desired
  • 2+ years of experience required

What We Prefer You Bring

  • 3-5 years’ progressive engineering experience in highway and/or civil/site design is preferred.
  • Prior experience with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects is desirable, but not required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Microstation strongly desired
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow professionally
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously both independently and also as an integral part of a design team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $105,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
